Charlottetown, PE – Sherwood educational assistant Susie Dillon has announced her intention to seek the Progressive Conservative nomination for District 11, Charlottetown-Belvedere, in the next provincial election.
"This community means so much to me because it’s where I grew up, where I went to school, where we raised our family, and where I learned about the importance of the things that bind a community together like our people, our neighborhoods and our institutions. Our youth, our seniors, and our families have great potential to thrive with the right representation and I feel I can be a balanced voice that represents the people of District 11,” said Dillon.
A lifelong resident of Sherwood-Parkdale, Susie attended Sherwood Elementary School, Stonepark Intermediate, and Charlottetown Rural High School before graduating from Holland College's Human Services program. Susie has worked as an Educational Assistant with the Public Schools Branch for the past 27 years.
Susie is an active community volunteer who has been involved with the PEI Poverty Elimination Council, Sherwood Elementary Home and School Association, Charlottetown CanPower Skate, the Sherwood-Parkdale Minor Hockey Association Early Bird Tournament Committee, the Sherwood-Parkdale Minor Hockey Association, and other minor sports teams.
"The past few years with the pandemic have been difficult for Islanders but I have been inspired by Premier Dennis King and his government’s leadership during the pandemic and his government’s efforts to put people first. The King government’s investments in youth, seniors, and communities strongly align with my beliefs and I want to help make a contribution for District 11 Charlottetown-Belvedere as part of Premier King's Progressive Conservative government," said Dillon.
Susie and her husband Mike live in Sherwood and have three adult sons.
