PC Candidates Applaud Premier Lantz’s Push to Reduce Bridge and Ferry Tolls

Winsloe & Hillsborough Park, PE – Progressive Conservative candidates Dennis Jameson and Kent Dollar are applauding Premier Lantz’s persistent efforts to secure immediate reductions in tolls for the Confederation Bridge and the Wood Islands ferry.

“Since day one, Premier Lantz has been advocating to the federal government for toll relief on both the bridge and the ferry,” said Dennis Jameson, PC candidate for District 9. “I was encouraged to hear the Premier’s update from the Council of the Federation meetings, where he confirmed that he had spoken directly with the Prime Minister and received assurances that toll reductions are on the table. I know Premier Lantz will keep pushing until Islanders see real results—and I’m committed to doing the same.”

Islanders have long borne the burden of high tolls when leaving Prince Edward Island—whether for personal travel or to transport goods and services to other regions. Currently, Confederation Bridge tolls start at $50.25, while Wood Islands ferry tolls begin at $86.00, with rates increasing based on vehicle size and type. These costs contribute to higher prices for imported and exported goods, driving up the overall cost of living.

“Reducing bridge and ferry tolls isn’t just about affordability—it’s about smart economic policy,” said Kent Dollar, PC candidate for District 15. “With ongoing trade uncertainty with the United States, lowering transportation costs will help our farmers, fishers, and small businesses access new markets and continue to grow.”

Premier Lantz has made getting both the Confederation Bridge and Wood Islands Ferry toll reduced or eliminated a key priority since being sworn in as Prince Edward Island’s 34th Premier, in his government’s efforts to improve affordability and strengthen regional economic ties. Both Jameson and Dollar have pledged to support this initiative if elected, standing firmly behind the Premier’s leadership on the issue.
