Bloyce Thompson was first elected as the MLA for District 8, Stanhope-Marshfield, in the 2019 general election. He was re-elected on April 3, 2023, and was appointed Deputy Premier, Minister of Justice and Public Safety, and Minister of Agriculture. On December 12, 2025, Bloyce was sworn in as the 35th Premier of Prince Edward Island.
Bloyce is an active member of his community and the agriculture industry as a third-generation dairy farmer and businessman. A proud graduate of Dalhousie Agricultural College, he has served the agricultural sector as a member of the genetic evaluation board of the Canadian Dairy Network and as a board member of Dairy Farmers of PEI.
As Minister of Agriculture, Bloyce worked to support and grow Prince Edward Island’s agriculture sector on local and global stages. Some key accomplishments during his time as Minister include:
Launching FarmersTalk.ca, a first-of-its-kind mental health resource for PEI farmers and farm families, Introducing new environmental initiatives that benefit both the land and farm operations, including lifting restrictions on water access for farmers, establishing new soil health programs, and implementing new energy efficiency supports for the agriculture sector Working with all levels of government and industry leaders to re-establish trade markets for PEI’s potato industry during imposed restrictions
Bloyce and his wife Terri are the proud parents of three children and live in beautiful Frenchfort, Prince Edward Island.
