Barb Ramsay to seek PC nomination in Summerside-South Drive

Summerside, PE – Summerside City Councillor Barb Ramsay has announced her intention to seek the Progressive Conservative nomination for District 22, Summerside-South Drive, in the next provincial election.

"During my time on Council I’ve learned about the importance of engaging with your constituents and working collaboratively with people, groups and different levels of government to help improve the lives of the people you represent. I feel that I have those abilities and I want to put those skills to use for the people of Summerside-South Drive as their representative in a PC government led by Premier Dennis King,” said Ramsay.

First elected to Summerside City Council to represent Ward 3 (Summerside-North) in 2018 and re-elected in 2022, Barb currently serves as Council Representative for Emergency Services and Co-Chair of the Planning and Municipal Services Committees.

A retired public servant, Barb worked as a Youth Addictions Counsellor with the Strength Program, as a Patient Care Nurse in the medical and palliative units at Prince County Hospital, and as a Youth Counsellor with the Youth Justice facility as well as having served as a Steward with the PEI Union of Public Sector Employees. 

Active in her community, Barb has volunteered with the Canadian Cancer Society, the IODE, and the Summerside Crime Prevention Board. Barb is a certified Life Skills Coach and is a licensed Wedding Commissioner. 

"We are doing great things in Summerside and our community has the potential to achieve even more. I want to provide the representation that we need to achieve that for the people of Summerside-South Drive as part of a Dennis King PC government," said Ramsay.

A graduate of Holland College and the Marguerite Connolly Training & Consulting, Barb is the mother of two daughters and six grandchildren and proudly lives in Summerside.
