Trivers pleased government heeds call on school fuel tank inspections

Charlottetown – PC Environment Critic Brad Trivers is pleased to see the English Language School Board is taking concrete steps to verify the condition of all their fuel tanks in the coming months.

“We issued a challenge for action to be taken following the significant incident in Summerside this May where 11,000 litres seeped into the ground through a rusted-out tank,” said Trivers. “The investigation identified improper maintenance as the main cause, so I am hopeful these upcoming inspections will identify any other tanks that need preventative maintenance or replacement.”

The Rustico-Emerald MLA stated he will be contacting the Education Minister to clarify whether the French Language School Board is undertaking a similar system-wide inspection.

Trivers is also calling for all inspection reports to be made available to the public.
