Darlene has two grown children, Katie and Glen, and now lives on her family's homestead on the Ponds Road in South Pinette. Darlene was born in Eldon and raised in South Pinette. She attended South Pinette School, Belfast Consolidated and Montague High School and graduated from Harry Ainlay High School in Edmonton, AB. Darlene went on to earn a business degree from Casco Bay College in Portland, Maine. She has a background in interior design, construction and renovation. Darlene was the administrator at the Dr. John Gillis Memorial Lodge in Eldon, which employs over 100 employees in our community. Darlene has lived and traveled within Canada and abroad, including Alberta, Maine, Abu Dhabi, UAE and Jakarta, Indonesia. This gives her a unique perspective on life on PEI and in her own district.
Darlene currently serves on the board of the Belfast Development Corporation that oversees Belfast Highland Greens Golf Course and the Lord Selkirk Campground & Belfast pool. She serves on the board for the Belfast Recreation Center and is a founding member of the Belfast Curling Club. Darlene is also an active member of St. John's Presbyterian Church.
Darlene’s family have been involved with the Progressive Conservative Party for generations. She first became active as a party volunteer in the1980's and has remained very active in the party. Since being elected in 2015, Darlene has been passionate about serving her district and all Islanders and currently sits as a member of the Standing Committee on Health and Wellness and the Standing Committee on Legislative Management.
